Charles Dean McCluer, Sr., of rural Leon, and formerly of El Dorado and Wichita died Friday, July 18, 2003. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Carlson Funeral Home. Internment will follow a Leon Cemetery.
Dean was born December 18, 1928 to James Loyd McCluer and Lela Eleanor Cole. He married Effie Ann Windham on March 4, 1951 in Wichita. She survives. He retired from Beeech Aircraft in 1994, where he had worked for all his married life as an inspector for small parts and paint. He was a member of Machinist Union #70. He was also a member of the Sedgwick County Fire reserves, Benton Volunteer Fire Dept., El Dorado Dept. of Public Safety reserves and the Midway Emergency Radio Team, and The Salvation Army.
Survivors: wife; sons, Roland Dean and wife Debbie of Kansas City area, Louis Loyd and wife Kristina "Tina" of El Dorado, and Charles Dean, Jr.; one daughter, Lorena Inez McCluer of the home; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
