Rev. S. M. Edwards, Baptist minister for 43 years, died at his home in Waco, Saturday night at 12 o’clock following an illness of eight months.
Funeral services are to be held at Osage this Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. In charge is Rev. W. T. Turner of Brook Avenue Baptist Church, Rev. W. W. Melton of Seventh and James Baptist Church, and Rev. C. Ross Payne of Belton.
Active pallbearers are to include the six nephews of the deceased – S. C., A. W., J. H., T. T., W. O. , and T. H. Edwards.
Rev. Mr. Edwards was born in Wilson county, Tennessee, Oct. 13, 1859. He is survived by his wife, two sons, R. R. Edwards of Waco, and O. A. Edwards of Temple; two brothers, C. J. Edwards of Crawford and R. P. Edwards of Tahoka and two sister, Mrs. G. W. Baker of Crawford and Mrs. S. P. Warren of Gatesville. (Thanks to Dee Winter for obituary)
