KSD Teacher Dies At 67
Alfred E. Marshall, 67, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home at 421 Grant St. after an illness of about two months.
Born in York, Neb., on June 11, 1905, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret Marshall.
He graduated from Nebraska School for the Deaf in 1926 and from Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C. in 1931. He was older boys supervisor and teacher of beginning woodworking from 1931 to 1942 at Kentucky School for the Deaf and was teacher of woodworking at KSD from 1942 until his death.
He belonged to several associations for the deaf including: Kentucky Association for the Deaf, the Kentucky Chapter of Gallaudet College Alumni Association Home Fund Board of the Kentucky Association of the Deaf and National Association of the Deaf. He served as president, vice-president and treasurer of Division 125 of the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf. At the time of his death, he was senior trustee of the division.
He also was a member of Kappa Gamma fraternity and of the Presbyterian Church.
Surviving with his wife, Mrs. Margaret Dubose Marshall, are: a daughter, Mrs. William M. Gulley, Danville; a sister, Emma R. Marshall, Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Charles Marshall, Jacksonville, Ill.; and one granddaughter, Amy Jo Gulley, Danville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stith Funeral Home with Rev. Irving Birdseye officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.

Marshall Rites Set Tomorrow
Funeral services for Alfred E. Marshall, 421 Grant St., who died Wednesday morning, will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Claude B. Hoffmeyer, Charles A. Thomas, Robert T. Baughman, Virgil Gulley, Floyd Furr and James Hester.
Honorary pallbearers will be James F. Royster, Daniel R. Middleton, Davis Edwards, James B. Beauchamp, Charles P. Grow, Arch Walker, Winfield McChord Jr., W.G. Farley, Sam Smock Sr., K.B. KSD Teacher Dies At 67
