Gertrude E. Elsworth, 76, of rural Parsons, died at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Elmhaven West Nursing Home in Parsons. She had been in failing health.

She was born August 21, 1930, in Parsons, to Orville and Dora (Johnston) Sketers. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons.

She and Norman Elsworth were married October 27, 1947, in Oswego. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1988.

She worked at Fred Ronald’s Manufacturing, in Parsons, for several years before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons and the Parsons Riding Club.

Survivors: three sons, Norman Vincent Elsworth, Jr. and his wife, Colleen Concho, AZ, Mike Elsworth and his wife, Brenda Erie, KS, Paul Roger Elsworth and his wife, Cassandra Oswego, KS; two daughters, Norma Roberts Humboldt, KS, Connie Elsworth Parsons, KS; fifteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one sister, LaVena Robbins Williams, MN.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and two grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
