Death Claims Old Resident
Dora L. Sheldon, eldest daughter of Luther and Mary Sheldon, was born in the township of Hartford, Mich., Sept. 16, 1844, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace Witter, at Lawrence, Mich., Saturday, April 22, 1916, aged seventy-two years. She was united in marriage to the late John M. Balfour November 13, 1867, and to this union six children were born, four of whom are living: Mrs. Grace Witter, Mrs. Hattie Fish, both of Lawrence, Mich., Mrs. Lotta Nicolson of Hartford, and Mrs. Bessie Hurley of Bangor, Mich.
To her second marriage to the late William E. Peacock, one child was born, Harry L. Peacock, of Bandette, Minn. Besides these, she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Maria Roberdu of Tipton, Iowa, Mrs. Nettie Schofield of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Lucia Minard of Benton Harbor, Mich., ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, to mourn her loss.
Funeral services were held for her at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Nicolson, Hartford, Mich., Tuesday, April 25, 1916, and interment took place in the Old Cemetery, Rev. T. Porter Bennett, pastor First Methodist Episcopal church, officiating.
