Mr. Andrew Shearer who died at his home on the 13th, was born September 28, 1821, in Twin Township, Dark county, Ohio and came to Michigan in 1837 and was united in marriage to Miss Mary Case in 1845 at Royalton, where he follow the butcher business till 1872 when he moved to this place where he soon succeeded in establishing a large trade, but on account of poor health was compelled to retire from business about a year ago, his son, C. D. Shearer, whoe had been in partnership with him buying him out. Deceased was the father of twelve children, nine of whom survive him. They are Wm. Shearer of Derby, Alex and C. D. Shearer of Stevensville, Mrs. James Bradford of St. Joseph, Mrs. Mary Newell of California, Laura and Birdie, of Stevensville, Mrs. Ed. Seward, of Berrien Springs and Eva, who went to California as a missionary several years ago. The names of the deceased are John, Andrew Jr., and Theodore. Deceased leaves a wife whose maiden name was Fanny Gibson. He had suffered three paralytic strokes, the last one on Sunday, from which he was unable to rally. Funeral services were conducted by H. Hollister and Rev. E. Evans, at the M. E. church, with interment in the Stevensville cemetery. The family extend their sincere thanks to neighbors and friends who assisted them in their time of trouble.
