TRIBUTE TO MAY GIFFORD, FROM AN OLD FRIEND
By: Ben Newell

Dear little Edna May Gifford, a long time friend of mine
I have known her since my boyhood days, and we got along just fine
I knew her mother and father, her brothers and sisters too
And they were a lovely family, and one that I'm glad I knew

She was always a lady, no matter where she went
And looking out for other folks, was the way her life was spent
She came to know the Lord, many long years ago
And I was there when it happened, and that is the reason I know

I have not been around her for many years, since we moved away
But when I think of the good old days, I always think of May
And I expect to see her again, over on the other side
When this life is over, and I cross the rolling tide

And I will meet her and greet her, as a loved and long time friend
Who was always kind to every one, right to the very end
I have never heard anyone speak of her, as anything but good
Who acted like a lady, as a Christian mother should

And though we are going to miss her, in this old world below
It's a comfort and a blessing, to all of us to know
There's a place prepared in Heaven, with no sickness death or pain
Where we'll meet and greet May Gifford, never to part again

And if you do not know Jesus, why not prepare today
And be ready to meet with the Savior, along with our old friend May
I have written this little tribute, in deep respect and love
And I'll be looking forward to seeing her, in that Heavenly home above.
