Louis Damiani was the brother to my wife's grandmother. She loved him very much and was always quick to talk about him. She was very proud of him and his service to America. He died in Guadalcanal from a snipers fire. He was buried there and a few years later at his father's request, he was exhumed and brought back to Ohio to be buried in his family's plot. I've posted a photo of his memorial service held here when he was returned home. I proudly keep and maintain the US flag that was over his casket as a reminder of his ultimate sacrifice that day in November.
