Charles R. "Chuck" Kent, age 75, of Orange City, passed away surrounded by those he loved on Tuesday, December 27, 2011.
A funeral service in his honor will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 31, at Volusia County Baptist Church, 261 S. Orange Ave., Orange City, followed by an interment at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
Chuck was born in Bad Axe, MI to Earl and Olga Kent. He dedicated his talents to many different professions including; sales, mechanics, and ministry, finally retiring as a carpenter from Aagaard Juergensen General Contractors.
Charles devoted his life to the service of Our Lord; Pastored three churches: Calvary Baptist and Gospel Light Baptist both in GA, and Liberty Independent Baptist in DeLand, leading people to the Lord, witnessing, and for the past 12 years telling the gospel story and handing out Bibles as his ministry for VCBC. Chuck was a jovial, witty, charismatic, visionary with an exceptional talent in woodworking and design.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy "Dot" Kent; four children, Helen (Tyler) Thomas, Jeffrey A. Kent, Lydia S. Buck, and Charles S. (Nadine) Kent; two brothers Bruce (Dorothy) and John Kent; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his extended church family.
