Prominent actress, milliner known as Odessa Warren Grey was born in Greenfield OH. Joined with her cousin, Madge Warren the African American vaudeville company The Policy Players with the legendary team of Bert Williams and George Walker (1899-1900) She would later perform in their production of "In Dahomey" (1902) She also performed in Ernest Hogan's
production of "Rufus Rastus" After retiring from the stage in 1908, she went into the millinery business, opening up a shop in Harlem which she operated until the 1950's.
She appeared in an unreleased motion picture from the Biograph Studios in 1913, " Lime Kiln Field Day" that has been recently rediscovered and boasted of an all Black cast including the great Bert Williams and is the oldest movie to date with an entire Black cast.
She went on to have part ownership of the New York Amsterdam News until 1935.
Odessa Warren Grey Morse died on April 28, 1960 at the Pilgrim State Hospital on Long Island and was buried with the help of the Negro Actors Guild at the Long Island National Cemetery on May 4.
