Sometime in the summer of 1866 Joseph, his parents and four siblings migrated from Graves County, Kentucky to Texas.
They traveled by wagon train with at least six other families.
They first lived in the settlement of Sulfur in Hopkins County. After two years they moved to Hunt County and made their home here. Joseph grew up to be a successful Farmer in the Tidwell community.
Joseph had seven brothers and 4 sisters.
Walter Lee who died on August 09, 1863 in Graves County, Kentucky, he was one years old, William David (Will), Luther Winslow he wasn't a year old when they made the move, John Adams, James Harvey Jr, Emory Caleb (Em), Jesse Young (Dock),
Annie Elizabeth, Ida May, Martha Elizabeth (Bet) and Mary Alice.
