Edna Elizabeth (Rush) Newton, 93, of Jenkins, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.

She was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Jenkins to Daniel and Clara Belle (Killin) Rush. She was raised and educated in the Jenkins area and married Clair Newton Dec. 21, 1925. While raising her 10 children, she was Postmaster for the Jenkins Post Office for 28 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Viola Werlinger of Livonia, Michigan., and Linda Headlee of Brainerd, Minnesota; four sons, Norbert of Gassville, Arkansas, Clair Jr. of Isanti, Minnesota, Alvin of Axtell, Nebraska, and Peter of Jenkins, Minnesota; 34 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie Housley of Casa Grande, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 16, 1978; three sons, Arthur, Robert and Roy; one daughter, Barbara Dickey; two grandchildren, Danny Dickey, and Cynthia Newton; and four sisters, Devana Kemnitz, Eva Bostwick, Carrie Keller and Helen Vermersch.

Funeral Services were held Feb. 11, 2003, at Northland Funeral Home in Pine River with the Rev. Phil Cox officiating.

Burial will be at Pequot Lakes City Cemetery
