Annelle Odom Killgore went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Born in Plano, Texas, on September 16, 1926, she was the youngest of the seven children of Sam Young Odom and Mary Elizabeth Waggoner Odom. Annelle graduated from Richardson High School and lived and worked most of her life in the Addison/Farmers Branch area. Before her retirement, she worked in the payroll department of Sysco Food Company. She lived nine years at The Corinthians retirement center in Carrollton, where she made many cherished friends and formed and led a Bible study group. An active and a long-time member of First Baptist Church Carrollton, Annelle also taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed singing in the Senior Adult Choir. She loved the Bible and enthusiastically shared her faith. Annelle is survived by her family: children, Hugh Lynn Strickland of Dallas, Sharon Strickland Dawson and husband Carroll of Houston, Elaine Strickland Gibson of Dallas, and Dan Killgore and wife Lisa of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Gary Matthew Crawley of Dallas, Elizabeth Marshall Thomas and husband Rob of Dallas, Laura Strickland Brown of The Woodlands, Roger Michael Marshall, Jr., of Fort Worth, William Lucas Strickland of New York, NY, Sarah Strickland Mandelberg and husband Nick of Austin, Mary Caroline Strickland of Austin, Stephen Kyle Killgore of Fort Worth, Whitney Michelle Killgore of Seattle, WA, and Justin Tyler Killgore of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Avery Grace Brown of The Woodlands, Jacob Holden Brown of The Woodlands, Tucker James Killgore of Fort Worth, and Henry David Mandelberg of Austin. Annelle is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Leona Scoggins Odom, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, and her special friend, Guy Ernest Dewald, and counted among her blessings his children, Bill Dewald and wife Becky of Lewisville, Guy Dewald, Jr., and wife Jamie of Kaufman, daughter Diane Dewald Shackelford and husband Doug of Dallas, and daughter Julie Dewald of Willis. Annelle's family is especially grateful to Mary and Carl Hertzog for their faithfulness to her in her retirement years and to Tommie Hatfield and her caregivers at T.L.C. Assisted Living for their loving care in the last three months of her life. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 30, at Big Spring Cemetery, 6538 N. Jupiter Road, Garland. Additionally, a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, at First Baptist Church Carrollton, 2400 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton. Family and friends are welcome at the service and reception immediately following.
