He was son of Hugh Campbell and Emma Holmes one of the early setters of Perrysburg. Price moved to Fairgrove in the late 1850s from Perrysburg, in Cattaraugus County, New York. He lived on the farm that he inherited from his father hwo purchased it from the land office. He was a town clerk and farmer in Fairgrove during the 1860s and operated the Campbell House in Vassar in the early 1870s. Price and his son David died of Typhoid Fever in 1873.
