RICHVILLE — Sarah Grace Peck, 88, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 30th at 11:30 am at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. William Hart, pastor of the Hermon United Methodist Church officiating and private burial in Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
Grace was born in North Gouverneur on April 22, 1923, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Gibson Gilbert. She attended North Gouverneur schools and graduated from Gouverneur High School.
Grace married James R. Peck on October 20, 1947 at the parsonage of the First Methodist Church in Gouverneur with Rev. Harold A. Thomas officiating. The couple operated a dairy farm in Fowler before moving in 1967 to their farm on the River Road in Richville.
Grace is survived by her husband James, two sons Roger and Janet Peck of Virginia, Gilbert and Claire Peck of Richville, two daughters Elizabeth and Charles Holland of Watertown, Elaine and Dennis Matthews of Hermon, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a sister Harriet Rayburn of Ogdensburg, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sisters Gladys Cole and Mary Cougler, a brother John Gilbert, and a half brother George Gilbert.
