Greenwood, March 29 - (Special) - Dr. Thomas J. Kinard, 72, prominent farmer and veterinarian, died at his home in Ninety-Six early today after a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in Elmwood cemetery, Ninety-Six, by the Rev. J.W. Lewis and the Rev. J.C. Crenshaw.

Dr. Kinard was a son of Jefferson McDuffie Kinard and Mrs. Christine Dominick Kinard of Newberry county, who moved to this section after the Confederate war. He was graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1891 and soon afterward began his career as a farmer and livestock dealer. He exhibited prize stock at the State Fair for many years and was a director of the South Carolina Agricultural society.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bernice Rhinehart Kinard, formerly of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Mrs. Toomer Laroache, St. Matthews; two sons, Thomas B. Kinard, St. Matthews, and Rhinehart, Ninety-Six; one sister, Mrs. Nannie Kinard Anderson, Ninety-Six, and four grand-children.
