Mrs. Margaret Burton Dead

Following a lingering illness of several years, with increased suffering during the past year, Mrs. Margaret E. Burton, aged 79, probably the oldest resident born in Ashley, died last evening at 7 o'clock in Riverside Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, where she had been a patient for the past week. Mrs. Burton was born in this borough seventy-nine years ago next September and has resided in Ashley all of her life. She was of kind, pleasing and charitable disposition and of sterling character, and had a wide acquaintance of valued friends in the community. She was a member of the Methodist Church and of its organizations, and prior to her illness was an active worker in its affairs. She suffered considerably which she bore with true Christian fortitude. She leaves two sons, Clarence I., of Westminister street, Wilkes-Barre, and Charles E., of 9 Brown Street, Ashley. Also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and one brother, R. M. Keiser in California.

A year ago last March her husband preceded her in death at the aged of 86. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon with services from the home. 9 Brown street, at 2 o'clock. Rev. W.. H. Crawford, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate and internment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family request that flowers be omitted.
