Born in Bainbridge PA, he was a son of the late Edgar L. Sr. and Lottie Welch Thorpe.
He last worked as a porter for the former Robert Hall store in Phillipsburg, retiring on disability 14 years ago.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Easton.
