Anna M Deens, Former Frick Teacher, Dies
Veteran Educator Taught Biology; Died in Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services for Miss Anna M. Deens, who died Sunday at Jacksonville, Fla., from a heart attack, will be held this evening at 8 o'clock at H. Samson's, 537 Neville Street. Services will be conducted by the Rev. W. S. Lockard. Burial will be in Beaver, PA., on Friday.
Miss Deens was for many years a resident of Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Rev. James L. Deens and Mary McKinley Deens, and received her education in the Pittsburgh schools and at Cornell University. She was formerly an instructor in Botany at the Henry Clay Frick Teachers Training School and upon her retirement went to live in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was active in a number of clubs, including the Women's Club of Pittsburgh and Jacksonville, the Garden Circles both of Jacksonville and Pittsburgh, Asbury M. E. Church of Pittsburgh and the Elizabeth Swain Memorial Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. James S. Dowdell of Wikinsburg.
