Note: According to at least one family tree on Ancestry.com the parents were "Henery Peyton Nott" and "Margaret Elizabeth Hiler Nott". Not sure if "Henery" is correct or should be "Henry". Needs clarification, so use with caution. Their burial location isn't yet known to this contributor, so direct links to them isn't possible yet.

This memorial is made in this cemetery per Iowa Cemetery Graves listings that he was buried in Edwards cemetery in Louisa county, Iowa.

At least three of Perrin's siblings are buried in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa in Evergreen cemetery (Note: this contributor lives in Fairfield but is not directly related to this Nott family). The siblings are:

Rhoda Nott Knauss Bramer

Philinda Beggs Nott Reed Parsons

Laura Nott Despain Brawner

There are several other siblings, but their whereabouts for burial is either unknown to this contributor or not definite enough to know for sure.

Thursday, December 13, 1923


Perrin Nott, Civil war veteran, died at 1 o'clock Sunday morning at Columbus Junction after a long illness. He was born at Morgan town, Ohio, May 16, 1844, and came to New London, Iowa, when ten years of age.

He afterward moved to Illinois, where he enlisted in the Eighty-ninth Illinois Volunteers in te fall of 1863. He was wounded at Lookout Mountain. After the war he returned to Iowa, where he was married to Susan Caroline Bayless (sic. Bayles per other sources), Feb 8, 1866, who survives him.

Eleven children were born to them. Surviving are: Frank Nott and Mrs Edna Ashby of Oakville, Harry Nott of Tampa, Fl, Mrs Ethel Spiker of Toolesboro, and Mrs Pearl Turner of Palisades, Colo.

Sher funeral servies were held at the home in Columbus Junction at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev Roy Jonston of the M E church, after which the remains were taken to Oakville where services were held at the church at 1______ Interment at Oakville.
