Gregory Galen Pefley, 57, of Rockville died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in his residence. He was a pipe fitter with 35 years of service.

He was born June 18, 1948, in Fort Wayne to Elmer Pefley and Gwendolyn Phillips Pefley.
Survivors include his former wife and lasting friend, Cricket Pefley Wagoner; one daughter, Venus Pefley Laney and her husband, Lt. Brian Laney of Fort Hood, Texas; two grandkids, Dalton Laney and Morhgan Laney, also of Fort Hood; two brothers, Lance Pefley of Waveland and Phillip Pefley of Rockville; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leighton and Noel Pefley.

He was a longtime member of the Rockville First Baptist Church. He graduated from Montezuma High School and enlisted in the Army. He proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was awarded many American Achievement Medals, including the distinguished Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of Local 157 Plumbers and Steamfitters in Terre Haute. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Jeffersonville, American Legion Post 48, Rockville Amvets and Scottish Rite of Indianapolis.

Services are noon Tuesday, in Gooch Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Bobby Wade and Howard Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery, with graveside military rites. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m., in the funeral home.
