MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Richard Francis Lewis, 81, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born June 14, 1922, in Montevideo, Minn., he was the son of the late Richard Arthur and Inga Sieler Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marion Briggs Lewis.
He retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service. He served during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of the Color Guards; Purple Heart Association; Korean Veterans Association Chapter 142 of Frederick, Md.; Newton D. Baker VFW Post 46; and American Legion Berkeley Post 14.
He is survived by two daughters, Marion K. Lewis of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Elizabeth E. Lewis of Akron, Ohio; two stepsons, John Denman of Millington, Tenn., and Clark Denman of Pompano Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be private.
