Melvin L. Frank, 85, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the VA Medical Center. He was the son of the late Thomas and Esther Frank. He graduated Syracuse University with a B.S. in engineering. Mel served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the service he was employed by GE for over 30 years. Mel was the owner of Frank's TV in Manlius for several years. Mel was a ham radio operator and liked to spend his leisure time fishing, bowling and playing poker. He also loved trips to the casino with his wife. Survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Geraldine (Berson) Frank; brother, Bernard (Phyllis) Frank; cousin, Francine (Alvin) Goldstein; two stepdaughters, Adriane (Joe) Marino and Beth (Justin) Drogoszewski; several stepgrandchildren, Sheera Buckley, Samantha Oley, and Aaron and Matthew Drogoszewski; several great-grandchildren; a son; and a daughter. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service, at the chapel. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Birnbaum Funeral Service officiated.
