Matthew Ryan " Snake " Sansom 14, of Wayne, Died Wednesday, July 3, 1996, in Scottown Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 9, 1996, at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Nichols Funeral Home, Wayne W.Va, by Brother John Holland and his baseball coach, George Brumfield. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. His teammates will serve as pallbearers. He was born Aug. 1, 1981 in Cabell County, a son of Clyde Ray and Zilla Joan Blankenship Sansom. He was a student at Wayne High School entering the 10th grade. He was a member of the junior varsity basketball and baseball teams at Wayne High School, playing 1st base and being one of only two freshmen to make the team. he was also a member of the Wayne Senior League baseball team and was chosen for the Wayne All-Star baseball team. He attended the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Clyde Sansom Sr. Also surviving is his twin sister, Heather Nicole Sansom at home; two brothers serving in the U.S Army, Stephen Ray Sansom and his wife, Melanie stationed in Germany, and Jeffrey Scott Sansom stationed in Bosnia; maternal grandparents, Myrtle Blankenship of Huntington, and Claude Blankenship of Proctorville, Ohio; paternal grandmother, Vivian Sansom of Barboursville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. HE was a quiet kid who would always do for others and he was always there for everyone else. He will be sadly missed by relatives, friends, and all who knew him. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne High School baseball team in c/o Coach George Brumfield.
