In approximately 1779, six year old Elisha Jr. traveled with his Uncle Jonathan Hoag (1754-1817) (mother's brother) on horseback from the Oblong, north, to resettle in Easton, New York.
Elisha Jr. married Ruth Thomas in 1795.
They had five children:
Anna Hoag Gifford 1795 – 1884
Jonathan Hoag 1798 – 1887
Ruth Hoag Slocum 1803 – 1866
Eliza Hoag 1804 – 1820
Mary D. Hoag Ives Batty 1813 – 1911
