MRS. S. REDMAN - PIONEER, PASSES
WELL KNOWN LADY HAD LIVED HERE ALMOST SINCE PALOUSE BEGAN

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Redman, 79, well known Palouse lady and pioneer died at her home on the old Redman homestead near town, Wednesday morning. Death came unexpectedly as Mrs. Redman had apparently been enjoying her usual health until the end. She would have been 80 years old next month.

Sarah Elizabeth Cochran was born in Missouri in 1856 and moved with her parents to Kansas the following year. In 1877 she united in marrage to William Redman. The couple left Kansas in a covered wagon train in May 1879, arriging in the Palouse country in August of the same year. Here they homesteaded three miles north of Palouse, at which place Mrs. Redman has since continously resided.

To the union were born five children, Mrs. Annie Gregg, Usk, Washington; Mrs. Margaret Sinclair at home; W.S. and C.F. Redman, Palouse, and Mrs. Myrtle Hughes, Moscow, Idaho. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild, four sisters and a brother in Kansas.

During her long residence of 57 years in Palouse, Mrs. Redman had built a large circle of friends and neighbors, who greatly admired this pioneer woman. She had been a faithful member of the Christian Church for half a century. She had been active in the service of Palouse and her neighborhood and her absence will be noticed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, October 17, from the local Christian Church, of which she had been a member so long. Rev. A.B. Bristow will officiate. As planned now, music will be furnished by Mrs. W. Farnham, Miss Genvieve Crose, Stanley Anderson and W.G. McCrory, with Mrs. Berwyn Throop at the piano.

Pallbearers will be entirely her grandchildren as follows: Lester and Chester Gregg, George Sinclair, Bernard Redman and Charles and Wendell Hughes.
