V. Wayne Zook, 90, of Normal and formerly of Chenoa, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 31 2011) at Heritage Health, Normal.

He was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Lexington Clarence E. and Lucille E. Hayslip Zook. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He married L. Mardelle Ralston on April 1, 1945. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Dennis (Janie) Zook and Barbara Elaine, both of Cleburne, Texas; Sharon Mitchell, Gilbert, Arizona and David Zook, Kathleen, Ga.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a radio mechanic for B-29 bombers on Guam.
