M. Irene Temple of Corvallis, formerly of Eugene, died DEC 9, 2003 of age-related causes. She was 92. Temple was born OCT 4, 1911, in North Platte, NE, to Hubert and Margaret McGovern Donelson. She married Joe Temple in North Platte on APR 18, 1931. She and her husband farmed and she taught in rural schools in Nebraska. She volunteered with the North Platte Canteen at the railroad depot providing snacks and reading material to thousands of the troops who passed through while serving in World War II. She and her husband later moved to Eugene where they worked in a cabinet/countertop business. She lived in Eugene for 20 years before settling in Corvallis. She served as a Gray Lady at Sacred Heart Hospital and she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul's food bank. She also served as a house mother and foster mother for unwed mothers and their babies. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corvallis and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed spending time with her family who will remember her deep commitment to making the world a better place. Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Jr., of Florence; a daughter, Carolyn Dyer of Corvallis; five grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Inurnment will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements by McHenry Funeral Home, Corvallis, OR.
