Born in Grondo, Poland, he emigrated to the United States in 1905. Settling in New Britain, he worked for many years as a bread salesman and as a factory worker at the Stanley Rule & Level Co. and Landers, Frary & Clark. He was active with many Jewish organizations and was a founding member of Congregation Tephereth Israel Synagogue in New Britain and the Beth David Synagogue in West Hartford. He was later a resident of West Hartford and Hartford. He is the father of former Connecticut governor and U.S. Senator Abraham A. Ribicoff.
