BEAUFORT, SC, Reverend Harold Pershing Greene, Sr., 83, widower of Frankie Seckinger Greene, died Sunday, January 6, 2003, at his daughter's home.

Reverend Greene was born on February 2, 1919, in Bryan County to the late William Luther Greene Vidella Lewis Greene. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the European Theater, where he participated in five amphibious landings. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Clusters, Good Conduct Medal and was a declared MIA twice during the war. He was a life member of Harmony Masonic Lodge #22, a member of the Omar Shrine Temple in Charleston, and a member of the Savannah River Pastor's Association. Rev. Greene chartered and pastored the St. Helena Baptist Church, Shellpoint Baptist Church, Okatie Baptist Church, and Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Beaufort. He also pastored Riverview Baptist Church, Indian Hill Baptist Church, and Faith Baptist Church. He further served as Intermim Pastor and Guest Speaker in every church in the Savannah River Baptist Association. He was also the co-founder of Anderson-Greene Funeral Home and was a licensed Funeral Director. He is currently a member of and Pastor at Meadowbrook Baptist Church on Lady's Island.

Survivors: a daughter, Joyce G. Alderman of Springfield; a son, Dr. Harold P. Greene, Jr., of Sumter; three sisters, Lucille Bell, Judy Smith, and Beulah Kuntz, all of Hinesville; two brothers, Robert Greene and Seaborn Greene, both of Pembroke; and two grandchildren.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home.

Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at the Baptist Church of Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
