Born in Tremont, he was a son of the late Harry and Minnie Schaeffer Kohr. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre. He was never married.
He was employed as projectionist at the Tremont Theatre ever since the theatre was opened, and before that time he operated the movie machine in the old Tremont Opera House, being engaged in that occupation for the past 35 years.
Mr. Kohr was a member of Brennan-Kelp Post No. 384, Tremont American Legion, the Tremont Memorial Post No. 9201, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tremont Young Men's Club and Tremont Fire Company No. 1.
He is survived by three brothers, Harry, Schuylkill Haven R. D. 2; John, Donaldson; Clarence, Tremont; three uncles, Ernest, Fred and Charles Kohr; one aunt, Mrs. Delbert Sharon, Tremont, and several nieces and nephews.
A military funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the Minnig Funeral Home, Tremont, the Rev. William H. Anderman, pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment was made in Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove R.D. 1.
Military rites were conducted by the V. F. W.
Pallbearers were Alfred White, Irvin Keeney, Harry and Harvey Long, Oliver Shadle and Harry Dinger.
The firing squad was commanded by Andrew Maurer, who also presented the flag which draped the casket to the next of kin.
Members of the firing squad were Wilber Heckert, Lewis Ney, Gene Zerbe, Edgar Doyle, James Hoover, Joseph Bowers, David Lehman of the V. F. W. and Auther G. W. Ellinger of the American Legion. Buglers were William Imschweiler and Herman Lengle of the Tremont High School Band.
