Daniel L. ‘Boone' Sims

Lifelong local resident Daniel Leroy Sims, 49, of Castle Rock passed away Sept. 20, 2011, at home.

He was born April 16, 1962, in Longview, and attended Castle Rock schools.

Boone worked as a logger and was a member of the Castle Rock Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hanging with family and sharing good food with good people. Boone was a happy and joking type who always make you laugh. He was the best storyteller. Boone touched everyone's life and everyone has a funny story to tell about Boone Sims.

He is survived by a son, Jared Sims of Castle Rock; a daughter, Jodi Sims (Brad) who was the light of his eyes of Kelso; his parents, Jim and Mary Kay Sims of Castle Rock; two brothers, Robert Sims of Castle Rock who was also his best friend and Brian Sisson of Longview; the mother of his children, Sue Sims of Las Vegas; a nephew and fishing buddy, Lil' Bob Sims of Longview; a niece, Charrissa Jenkins of Castle Rock; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Boone was preceded in death by his mother, Dixie Sims.

A celebration of Boone's life is planned with a potluck at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Castle Rock Eagles.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory
