He was born: Reubin Merwine Keiser
He was named after his father: Reubin Merwine Keiser. He is most commonly listed as "Ruby" in Napa County records, or simply referred to as R. M. Kyser.

The 1880 Census shows a spelling of Rubin as his given name.
Both he, and his brother Daniel Sterling Kyser, who moved to California in 1875 changed the spelling of their surnames to KYSER at some point.

He served as the Napa Coroner and also worked with his brother at the furniture store in downtown Napa that is now (2012) The Chophouse Restaurant. He lived at 305 South Coombs St. in Napa, at the time of the 1910 and 1920 Census. No known direct surviving heirs as of 2012.

According to Connie (#47390019), his nickname was "Rube"... that was the spelling in his Obit. Four "California Voters Registers" in the late 1800s, along with the 1910 and 1930 Census all show a name of "Ruby" not Rube. The obituary also has the incorrect name of his father, and uses the California spelling of his surname. Both of his parents were always listed as KEISER in all documents, never as Kyser. Either spelling of his nickname may be possible. Thank you Connie for your research on my Great Grand Uncle.
