DR. H.V. BAILEY

Dr. H. V. Bailey, one of Tazewell County's most esteemed citizens and physicians, and well known to many in this community, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Pekin, Tuesday morning, April 10th. A week ago he underwent a minor operation but had returned home Sunday and appeared to be getting along well until a sudden change and the development of pneumonia brought the end quite suddenly.
Dr. bailey was born October 12, 1861, in Spring Lake Township, and has always resided in Tazewell County. In 1892 he was married to Miss Belle McCoy in Pekin. She with their two children, Margaret L. and Alexander Dyce Bailey, his aged mother, Mrs. Emma Coleman Bailey, and two sisters, Mrs. J.D. Phillips of Green Valley, and Mrs. Geo Kroll of Pekin survive.
He was a prominent Mason and during the World War served as examining physician on the county board and has also served as coroner of Tazewell County. He had practically retired from active medical practice and devoted most of his time to his extensive land interest.
