COEUR D'ALENE PRESS:
Elaine Hall, 87, passed away quietly at Kootenai Medical Center on Nov. 27, 2005. The daughter of Earl and Sarah Gunter Clegg, she was born in Paris, Idaho, on March 21, 1918, and grew up in McCammon, Idaho. On Jan. 2, 1935, Elaine was married for time and eternity to the love of her life, Joseph Clayton Hall, at the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. Elaine lived her life simply and in unflagging service to her family and friends. She loved being part of the Relief Society and could always be counted on to help with whatever might be needed. She and Clayt were truly the salt of the earth, and would help anyone with anything as long as they were able. They lived and reared their family of seven loving children in southern Idaho and Utah, as well as here in North Idaho. Elaine will be remembered for many skills and acts of love, as she was a wonderful homemaker and mother. As a girl, she had become a great cook, feeding the many hired hands at her grandparents' place, learning early the value of hard work. Elaine raised gardens and preserved the produce with gratitude for the Lord's blessings. She took delight in brightly colored flowers. Also while young, she learned to sew beautifully, and her quilts are prized by her family members today. Throughout the years, Elaine shared her skills with many of the younger generations in Relief Society classes and homemaking meetings, which were a joy to her. The Halls first came to North Idaho in 1959, and loved their Meadowbrook farm. They moved to Nampa for a time and returned in 1978 to Hayden, where they have since made their home. She and Clayt raised prize sheep and horses wherever they lived for many years. She often said horses were the most beautiful of God's creations, and that there is no life as good, or as hard, as life on the farm. Her children, who live locally except as noted, are Arlene Boudreau of Nampa, Larry L. Hall, Darrell C. and Connie Hall, Eldon J. and Mary Hall, Denny J. and Kathy Hall, Cocolalla, Arlin C. and Rose Hall, Boise, Sharon A. and Zane Hall. Her brother Theodore (Ted) Clegg and wife Velma live in Linden, Utah. Elaine has 25 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren at the time of her passing, in addition to a host of nieces and nephews. She cherished her family and friends. Among those who will miss her most are many local relatives, among them, Rhonda and Jim Paulson, Jeff and Wanda Hall, Jean Hall, Marilyn Turner, Scott and Amy Hall. She counted as special friends Garth Lybbert, Jack and Connie Godak, Wendell and Kathy Adams, and Leslie Pottela, and was truly love by all who knew her. In addition to her husband, who passed away on March 2, 1001, Elaine was preceded in death by her brother Myron Clegg, half-brother Wither Chapel, half-sister Dorothy Johnson, and grandson Dan Hall.
-Viewing will be 10 a.m. before the 11 a.m. funeral service Dec. 1 at Hayden Lake LDS Stake Center, with Bishop John Anderson of Hayden Fourth Ward conducting. Following the service, Elaine will be laid to rest beside her husband at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens. ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
