Pearl Ellen "Pinky" Boulnois, age 74, of Poplar Grove, IL, formerly of Burlington, IA died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at the home of her daughter after a long battle with breast cancer.

Born Aug. 29, 1937, in Warren Co, IA she was the daughter of L.C. and Ila (nee Baker) Zike. On July 1, 1962, she married David Boulnois in Burlington, IA.

Mrs. Boulnois started her nursing career at Burlington Medical Center and later worked as operating room supervisor at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY. She worked as a nurse in elder care in Carpentersville, IL, and at retirement was a traveling consultant for Embassy Long-Term Care in IL.

She grew up in Burlington, IA and graduated from Burlington High School in 1955 and from Burlington Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She completed the course work to be a nursing home administrator.

She was an advocate for quality care issues in long-term care. She devoted her life to family and the care of those in long-term care.

Survivors include two sons, Gregory Boulnois and Mark Boulnois; one daughter, Lisa Whitcomb; and one sister, Jerri Dean of Mount Prospect.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, her parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home in West Dundee, IL.

The funeral for Mrs. Boulnois will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fox Valley Baptist Church in Dundee. Burial will be in Dundee Township East Cemetery, East Dundee, IL.
