Born to Charles E. Kezeler and Harriet M. Barnes. He grew up in Illinois and moved to the Colorado Springs area in his mid teens. In 1902 he married Jessie Jewell Wells. Together they had two children, Charles Wells and Norman Wells. They later divorced. He married Ethel Caughron in 1906 and had two children - James Linden Kezeler and Helen Louise Kezeler. They later divorced. He served in World War 1 with the 27th Army Engineers. After the war he worked as an engineer with his son James Linden Kezeler all over the world in oil and gas exploration, as well as mining.
