Mrs. Valentine had come to Los Angeles at the age of eight from Brockton, Massachusetts. Her family owned the Boston Dry Goods Store in Brockton. Louie's father, Henry (Joseph W. Robinson), came to California to raise race horses – trotters – and established a ranch in El Monte, but he continued the family business by founding a Boston Dry Goods Store in Los Angeles, which became Robinson's Department Store. VALENTINE - Mrs. Louie Chandler Valentine of South San Rafael Ave., passed away Aug. 9, 1964. A native of Brockton, Massachusetts, she had been a resident of Pasadena 54 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Julia V. Stewart, Susan V. Buckingham;
three sons, William W. Valentine, Edward R. Valentine, and Henry W. Valentine;
ten grandchildren, Margaret Stewart Bricker, William L. Stewart III, Henry W. Buckingham, William W. Valentine Jr., Sally Valentine Lyon, Susan Valentine Wilson, Peter B. Valentine, Michelle Valentine. Julie valentine Harn and Joan Valentine.
Private services will be held at the Church of Our Savior, San Gabriel. The Rev. Crawford W. Brown, D. D., officiating. Interment San Gabriel Cemetery. Friends who wish may make contributions to Children's Hospital, 4614 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles. Turner & Stevens Co., Pasadena, directors.
