---Claud Elden Thompson, age 76, of 310 Buffalo, Hemet, CA passed away Nov. 1, 1981 in the Hemet Valley Hospital.
---Born April 29, 1905 in Sue City he was the son of James Monroe Thompson and Lena (Cook) Thompson.
---Nov. 9, 1932 he was married to Hazel Llewellyn who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Claudette (Mrs. Larry Woods) of Hemet. Two grandsons, Jeffrey and Chad Woods. Other survivors include Logan Thompson, La Plata, Velma Burges, Kirksville, Martha Jane Yelecca of Los Angeles.
---He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Thompson.
---He moved with his family from La Plata to California in 1960.
---He was a graduate of LHS, 1925, received his BS degree from NMSU in 1929, Bachelor of Theology and Master of Religious Education, SW Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX, 1940, did graduate work at Missouri University-Columbia.
---He was a teacher in High Schools in Missouri 9 years and coached basketball at La Plata 1943-1944.
---He pastored the following churches in Missouri, Sue Sity Baptist Church, Cairo Baptist, First Baptist Weston, MO., New Salem Baptist Church, Ashland, Mo., La Plata Baptist Church, 14 years in two pastorates. Served one year as Associational Missionary of Macon Baptist Association. He also pastored churches in California.
---He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Hemet, member of the XYZ Club of that church and a member of the National Retired Teachers Association.
---Funeral Services were held Wed. Nov. 4 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Hemet, CA. Burial was in the San Jacinto Cemetery, Hemet.
