Biography
Monsignor Raymond J. Boyle, P.A., 82, Protonotary Apostolic and Priest of the Diocese of Peoria, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 at St. Patrick Church in Seneca, Illinois with Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC as the principal celebrant. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St. Patrick Church in Seneca. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church in Seneca.

Monsignor Boyle was born August 31, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to William P. and Anna (McHugh) Boyle.

He was ordained a Priest in St. Mary's Cathedral, Peoria, Illinois, on May 27, 1956. He served as Assistant Pastor at St. Cecilia Parish, Peoria, 1956 -1957; Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Galesburg, 1957-1958; Immaculate Conception Parish, Streator, 1958-1967. He was Pastor of St. Anthony Parish, Hoopeston, 1967-1975; Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Silvis, 1975-1983; St. Columba Parish, Ottawa, 1983-1990; St. Pius X Parish, Rock Island, 1990-1996; St. Patrick Parish, Seneca, 1996-2011. Monsignor Boyle was also Vicar of the Danville Vicariate, 1974-1975 and Vicar of the Ottawa Vicariate, 1997-2011. He was named a Prelate of Honor in 1993 and a Protonotary Apostolic in 2006.

He is survived by a sister, Norine (Terrance) McGovern of Chicago; a brother, James (Marjorie) Boyle of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William P. Boyle and Anna (McHugh) Boyle; a brother, William N. Boyle (Helen); and two sisters, Marion (Harold) Carlson, and Sister Nancy Boyle, L.C.M.
