The following was taken from the Dec. 20, 1955 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Benny Locklear, 59, died at his home Sunday following two years of declining health.
He is survived by his wife, Dolly Hunt Lockelar; one son, James Benson of Rowland, three daughters, Mrs. Artemus Hunt, Fairmont, Mrs. Carley Freeman, Lumberton, and Lillian Locklear, Fairmont; five brothers, Joe Locklear, Russell Locklear, Noah Locklear, all of Rowland, John Locklear and Burley Locklear, both of Fairmont; one sister, Molly Mae Locklear, Rowland.
The funeral is being held at Bear Swamp Baptist church this afternoon at three o'clock with the pastors, Rev. Chesley Maynor and Rev. Isaac Locklear, officiating. Interment is to follow in the St. Anna cemetery.
The deceased was a Woodman of the World and taught Sunday School for the past ten years in the Pleasant View Baptist church.
