John W. Duncan, 49, 517 West Barnett St., died at 2:04 p.m. Tuesday in Doctors Hospital of a heart attack.

He was a retired plumber and was born in Saline County on Oct. 18, 1928, son of the late Orval and Mae McFarland Duncan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Duncan and later married the former Ann Dallmeier, who survives.

Mr. Duncan was a Social Brethren by faith and was a member of the Plumber's Local at West Frankfort.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Larry Duncan and Russell Duncan, both of Harrisburg, and Michael Duncan, Clinton, Md.; two grandsons, Jason and Adam Duncan; two sisters, Mrs. Monroe (Wilma) Gibbs, and Mrs. LeRoy (Chloe) Dowdy, both of Harrisburg and a brother, Carroll Duncan of Davisburg, Mich. A brother, Oral Duncan preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Gaskins Funeral Home, where friends may call after 6 p.m. today. The Rev. Cletus Killman and the Rev. Bertis Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery.
