Pioneer settler, lawyer, and judge for fledgling Grayson County, Texas in the late 1840s. He bought city lots at the auction for the new town of Sherman Dec 1846 after previously surveying the site to lay out the town. He conducted court as the second County Chief Justice Nov 1846 - Jul 1848 in the first county courthouse, a log cabin after it was constructed. Prior to that, he held his Court of Sessions in the home of Robert Atchison where he was rooming. He and his new family arrived in Tuolumne County in 1851. His death was reported by San Francisco, Sacramento, and New York City newspapers. After his death, his wife and stepson continued on as miners(probably on his claim) in the Jamestown area.
