Howard I. Drake, 99 of Carroll Square, Carrollton died Monday, October 5 following a brief illness. Born in Lee Township he was the son of the late William and Nancy (Jackman) Drake. He was a member of Harsh Memorial United Methodist Church at Harlem Springs and Harlem Springs Grange. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Magee, a daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are his second wife, the former Elliott Lee Potts, whom he married in 1925; a son, Howard I. Jr., of Carrollton; three step-sons and step-daughters, Charles Beckley of Carrollton, John Beckley of Louisville, Mervin Beckley of Harlem Springs and Mrs. Elizabeth Boyd of Bergholz; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. Services were held Thursday, October 8 with the Rev. Clark Hogue III. Burial was in Harlem Springs Cemetery. The Allmon-Dugger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
