Carl Thorn, 75, of Elizabeth passed away Friday, April 26, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Wirt County, a son of the late Claude Clark and Thelma E. Parsons Thorn. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had been a sawmill operator and employed for 33 years with Union Insulating, where he had been a truck driver and shift supervisor.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Kyer Thorn; one son, Carl Eugene Thorn of Charles Town, W.Va.; one daughter, Carolyn Rebecca Thorn of Vienna, W.Va.; eight brothers, Bill and Chester Thorn of Elizabeth, Cloyd Thone of Parkersburg, Roger and Ronnie of Hoopston, Ill.,Charles Thorn of Grand Forks, N.D; Pete Thorn of Rantoul, Ill., and Claude Clark Jr. of Warner Robbins, Ga.; three sisters, Ruth Bowman of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mary Thatcher of Henning Ill., and Pauline Lockhart of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, Jesse and Chase, all of Charles Town, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by one infant brother.
Services will be held 2 p.m Monday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home. Elizabeth, Pastor Dean Ash officiating. Burial will be in Mayberry Cemetery of Wirt County. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday.
