Emigrated to the US in about 1845 - 49. Married to Isabella Whyte, from Glasgow, Scotland, also born 1817. They moved first to Lee, MA where Thomas worked in a paper mill. They moved with their first born son, William, to Owego, NY. He died there 3 days after his wife, by heart failure caused by the "Grip", according to the Owego Gazette, Dec 17, 1891.
