Bruce Donald of 1803 West Charles died Wednesday at a local hospital. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Revs. James Roach and George Peek will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island Cem.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, the Salvation Army or the Red Cross. Apfel Butler Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Donald was the son of Lawrence and Edith Donald. He was educated at the Principal in St. Louis, Mo. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War I and served with the Fourth Division, 16th Field Artillery. He was battery intelligence agent and saw service at Chatteau Thierry, St. Mihiel and the Meusse-Argonne. After the Armistice he served with the army of occupation in Germany.

In 1922, Mr. Donald married Edna Kasten of Kearney. He entered the family business, The Donald Co. For more than 50 years the Donald Wholesale Groceries and Dry Goods Co. was one of the largest business enterprises in Grand Island. He was an officer of the firm and managed the dry goods department. The business was sold in 1955 to George Martin Enterprises and Mr. Donald retired.

He was a member and a vestryman of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. he served on the Red Cross board and was chairman of the Salvation Army board for several years. He was a charter member of American Legion Pst No. 53 in Grand Island.

Survivors include his widow, a daughter, Dana Hammer, and two grandchildren.
