SEMI-WEEKLY INTERIOR JOURNAL, STANFORD, KY., FRIDAY, MAY 12, 1893
Death's Doings
At the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. T. Bohon, at an early hour yesterday morning, the spirit of Mrs. Elizabeth A., wife of Daniel Stagg, Sr., passed peacefully to rest. About a week ago she suffered the third stroke of paralysis and since then she has for the most part laid in a stupor, with brief periods of lucidness. Born in Mercer county in 1814, she was united to the man for whom she made a most loving and true helpmeet when she was barely 17 years of age. So for 61 years they have lived together in such peace and harmony as rarely falls to the lot of mortals. Shortly after her marriage Mrs. Stagg professed religion and joining the Methodist church, became an active and devoted member. Eleven children were born to them, seven of whom are living - Mrs. T. J. Foster, Mrs. J. T. Bohon, E. S., W. D., S. P., D. B., Stagg and Mrs. C. T. Bohon. In 1865 Mr. and Mrs. Stagg removed to this county from Harrodsburg, where they have since made their home and won the friendship and esteem of all who came in contact with them. Mrs. Stagg was noted far and near for her piety and goodness of heart and her entire life was a grand exemplification of the true christian character. That she has received the welcome plaudit, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," none who knew her can entertain a doubt, and her husband and children have the consolation that if they too shall hold out faithful they will wear with her the crown of eternal life. A short service will be held this, Friday, morning at Mr. Bohon's, at 9:30, by Rev. Wellburn and at the grave in Buffalo Cemetery about 2 p. m., by Rev. W. E. Arnold.
