George W. Gunnells
George Whyte Gunnells died after a long illness at his home in Hancock on Friday at 10:10 a. m. aged 48.

Born in Hancock he was the son of John Wesley and Margaret Ann (Trimble) Gunnells and has been a resident of Hancock and vicinity his entire life.

For many years he conducted a grocery business in Hancock.

He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the 29th Division in the Meuse-Argonne, Chateau-Thierry and Verdun engagements. He was a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post of the American Legion and a past master of the James W. Bowers Masonic Lodge.

Besides his wife, Mabel Ritz Gunnells, he is survived by: Sons, John Whyte and George Trimble, both at home; sister, Mrs. Martha Masselink, Detroit, Mich.: and brother, Robert E., Hancock.

The body will rest at the Charles R. Bast Funeral Home, Hancock, until 9:30 a. m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock, Monday
at 10:00 a. m. (EST), Rev. H. Kearny Jones officiating.
