Jane Eva Duits, 68, of Rock Valley, died Friday, May 3 at her home of an apparent heart attack.

Services are today, Tuesday, at 2 P.M., at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, the Rev. Harlan De Jong officiating. Burial is in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Duits, the former Jane Eva Wierda, was born on October 13, 1927, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Martin & Rena (Faber) Wierda.

She was graduated from Sioux Center High School, attended Westmar College in LeMars and was graduated with a teaching degree with Central College in Pella.

She married Peter Duits on January 1, 1953, in Sioux Center. The couple lived in Hull for a year and a half before moving to Rock Valley, where she taught at the public school.

She obtained her librarian degree at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, and was librarian at the public school in Rock Valley until retiring in 1989.

Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Brian & Clarice Duits of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Janna & Walt Ross of Littleton, CO; four brothers, Reynold, Marvin and Bernard Wierda, all of Sioux Center, and Thomas of Orange City; three sisters, Martha (Mrs. John G. A. Van Roekel) and Delia (Mrs. Henry) Franken, all of Sioux Center, and Myrtle (Mrs. Clarence) Kiel of Orange City; and two grandchildren.
